Summer Lip Care, How to Protect Your Lips From the Summer Sun

You must take care your Lips even in summer, lip problems are present not only in winter season, but also in summer.  Why because, lips get dry quickly due to the heat in summer. To maintain the same nice and soft luscious lips this summer, it is must that we take good care of lips. Follow these precautions and guidelines to protect your lips from the harsh summer elements.

Protect from Sun:
Try to avoid too much sunlight as they can absorb wetness of your lips and make them hard and dry. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, then you have to protect your lips by wearing a UVA-protective lip balm along with moisturizers.

Lip balm is the most powerful skin care product to be in your summer skin care tool bag. It helps in two ways, one is to shield the lips from harmful UV rays and second is to moisturize them. Pick a lip balm which has at least 15 SPF and moisturizing components that leave your lips feeling and looking luscious. When you are using sunscreen all over your body, don’t fail to guard your lips with lip balm.

Lips can become black due to the heat in summer. Add Saffron Kesar with curd and mix it well. Apply this mixture to the lips two or three times a day. It gives Lips a good color too.

Moisturize:
Along with the daily application of lip balm, your lips need more moisturizing at night time to help them recover and restore. Use a moisturizing cream at night so that lips can take up the moisture while you sleep. Mix 1/2 tsp. Glycerin, 1/2 tsp. castor oil with 1/2 tsp. lemon juice then apply it to your lips and massage every night and leave overnight.

Peppermint lip balm gives big relief to lips damaged by sun in summer. Mix a few drops of peppermint essential oil with 1 tbsp of honey then apply this to your lips at bedtime. You can even add lavender essential oil or grapefruit essential oil instead of peppermint.

Use coconut oil as a lip balm to your lips daily. This moisturizes the skin on your lips.

Exfoliate:
Exfoliation is probably a part of your daily skin care routine, but are you including the lips? Like other skin surfaces, the soft skin of lips undergoes a build-up of dead skin cells. Apply a lip balm or Vaseline to your toothbrush and brush your lips. Brushing your lips for a few seconds using a toothbrush in the morning can remove the dead skin cells on the lips and make them smooth, even, and clean. After exfoliating the lips, make sure you apply lip balm.

Healthy Diet:
Secure your lips from severe weather conditions. Eat lots of veggies and fruits. Gorge on foods that are rich in Vitamins and increase your intake of water. Healthy skin is what you eat, that begins on the inside. Choose a healthy, balanced diet for healthy, beautiful skin—including the lips.

Hydrate:
Try to increase intake of fluids in your diet. Cut down the consumption of carbonated sodas, coffee or tea. Drink delicious fruit and vegetable juices. Butter milk is a very good choice after your meals.

Chronic dehydration cause to dry skin and this includes the lips. Stay hydrated to have healthy skin.
